Whether you stay at Jigsaw Cottage Guesthouse on a full board or Bed and Breakfast basis we want you to feel you're staying with friends in their cosy country cottage. A typical day begins with wake-up tea or coffee, followed by breakfast from as early as you like until 10.00 am. Over a hearty Irish breakfast we'll help you plan your day. If you're going fishing, golfing or horse-riding we'll book it for you and should you wish, transport you there and back.
If you prefer a gentle introduction to the surrounding countryside we have route maps for a selection of walks traversing country roads, forest tracks and open countryside. Amble down the lane, cross the old stone bridge and in a few minutes you reach the little hamlet of Moyne with its lovely old church.
Linger a while in the peaceful graveyard then strike uphill to join the Wicklow Way for part of a circular walk taking you either back to base or on a longer loop through Knockananna with its couple of pubs, lovely thatched cottages and (reputedly) the smallest house in Ireland.
Alternatively there's a beautiful walk to the top of Ballycumber Hill by way of forest tracks. Return across fields via an ancient farm road. If cycling's your sport then the local roads will take you to a host of small towns and villages around the area.
The lack of an understanding and experience of mountain navigation denies many people the pleasure of exploring the higher and more remote mountain regions. We can help in two ways; either a guided walk which will give you an unforgettable introduction to mountaineering or, for groups of 3 to 6 people, a two or three day course in the basics of mountain navigation.
In summary, tell us how you want to spend your time and chances are we'll be able to set it up for you.
Back at the cottage, relax and take in the view across the pond and wild-flower meadow as you stroll or sit, surrounded by the sounds and sights of the undisturbed countryside.
Alternatively just kick off those hiking boots and relax in the conservatory with a reviving cup of tea. You are also welcome to 'add your piece' (or better still several pieces!) to whatever jigsaw puzzle is under construction.
